Michael Broussard, son of Robert and MaryAnn Broussard is starting at Lamar University this August. He is going for Pre-Law. Good Luck to you Michael.

Debbie Theriot retired from the Tax Office in August 2009. Yes, you heard me right, SHE RETIRED!! Debbie had been with the County Tax Office for 30 years & retired as the Assistant Supervisor of the Current Collections Department. She has been thru 2 Tax Assessors & seen the office change many times. She will be deeply missed by her co-workers that she leaves behind, but is moving onto bigger and better things.

MAY 2009

Congratulations to Michael Broussard, son of Robert and MaryAnn Broussard. He has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a proud member of the “world famous” Troop 75 of Port Arthur, Texas. His project was a Memory Garden at St. Elizabeth’s Church. He has been active with this organization for the past 12 years. What a great accomplishment!

Well, Melissa Yates, daughter of Lynn & Pam Yates, has done it again! She was nominated and accepted into the National Society of High School Scholars. Membership into the Society is by nomination only. Her nomination was based on her “outstanding scholastic achievement and academic excellence”. She will be wearing a special Honor Cord with her cap and gown, reflecting her membership into the NSHSS. Yes, mom and dad are very proud.

MARCH 2009

It seems like Natalie Collazo, daughter of Christine & David Collazo, has been very busy lately.  She recently played in the Solo & Ensemble contest with her Bass Clarinet & scored a 1 on her piece. That means she placed a Gold Medal for that event. Then she played with a partner in a Doubles Tennis match and placed a Silver Medal for that event. If that wasn’t enough for you, she also participated in a Team Spelling Bee and came in 2nd place, and that merited her a Silver Medal for that event. LOOK OUT OLYMPICS….. She may be headed you direction real soon.

FEBRUARY 2009

Congratulations to Julie Joffrion! Port Arthur Memorial placed first in team standings at the Anahuac power lifting meet on Jan. 20 and second in the West Brook Invitational. All 14 of coach Julie Joffrion entrants secured a medal in Anahuac as the Lady Titans collected 80 points to easily outdistance runner-up Anahuac at 26. Seven Lady Titans placed first in their respective weight categories. WOW Julie, GOOD JOB!

Congratulations also to Sara Dominguez Hernandez (58) Granddaughter, Nikki Hernandez on her West Point Appointment. She is the daughter of Major Andrew Hernandez (80), US Army, he just returned from a Tour of Duty in Afghanistan. She is a senior at Stoneypoint High School in Round Rock, Texas.

Keely Theriot, daughter of Debbie and Keith Theriot, has made the Dean’s List at Lamar State College. We are very proud of you!!!

NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2008

Melissa Yates, daughter of Lynn & Pam Yates, was honored at a banquet September 27th at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. She was recognized as a State Council member for 4-H. The Banquet included members from 4-H, FFA and the FCCLA. The State of Texas has over 647,000 active 4-H members & only 32 sit on the State Council. Also, there are only 4 of the State Council that are Junior’s in High School & Melissa is one of the four. This is quite an accomplishment and mom and dad are very proud of her. She has already received the traditional “Green Jacket” that she will wear at all state meetings and she will be receiving her 4-H State Ring shortly.
